I am the Director of Congregational Care, overseeing our Care and Marriage ministries at Ada Bible Church. Beyond my work at Ada, I have over 20 years of counseling experience in both the Chicago and Western Michigan areas.  I have a doctorate in Psychology and received my Master’s in counseling from Grand Rapids Theological Seminary. My dissertation and research addressed how those struggling with sexual addiction can correlate to Gordon Allport’s premise of extrinsic and intrinsic religiosity. For those who are daring, below is a link to the research and paper if you would like to read it.

Previous to coming to Ada Bible Church, I was the founder and director of a non-profit counseling agency devoted to providing psychological services to the communities of western Michigan. Through my private practice, I specialized in treating depression, eating disorders, self-injury and relationship therapy.

As for my blog, it focuses on a myriad of issues and questions facing us today. With this creative outlet, I write on matters of spiritual growth, psychology, leadership, parenting, sexuality, relationships and on and on. To make sure you don’t miss my newest posts, you can subscribe via the RSS feed at the top of this page. You can also link to some other content on Twitter or Instagram.

I have been married to my wife Julie for twenty three years. We have two sons who have taught us more than we could have ever imagined. Unless it is spending time with Julie, I find no better enjoyment than being with my sons on a golf course late in the evening in August.
