I am the Direc­tor of Con­gre­ga­tional Care, over­see­ing our Care and Mar­riage min­istries here at Ada Bible Church. We are a grow­ing con­gre­ga­tion of 9,000 atten­dees that puts a spe­cial empha­sis on trans­for­ma­tional teach­ing, get­ting all ages into small group com­mu­nity, and proac­tively car­ing for our congregation.

Beyond my work at Ada, I have over 20 years of coun­sel­ing expe­ri­ence in both the Chicago and West­ern Michi­gan areas.  I have a doc­tor­ate in Psy­chol­ogy and received my Master’s in coun­sel­ing from Grand Rapids The­o­log­i­cal Sem­i­nary. My dis­ser­ta­tion and research addressed how those strug­gling with sex­ual addic­tion can cor­re­late to Gor­don Allport’s premise of extrin­sic and intrin­sic reli­gios­ity. Pre­vi­ous to com­ing to Ada Bible Church, I was the founder and direc­tor of a non-profit coun­sel­ing agency devoted to pro­vid­ing psy­cho­log­i­cal ser­vices to the com­mu­ni­ties of west­ern Michi­gan. Through my pri­vate prac­tice, I spe­cial­ized in treat­ing depres­sion, eat­ing dis­or­ders, self-injury and rela­tion­ship therapy.

As for my blog, it focuses on a myr­iad of issues and ques­tions fac­ing us today. With this cre­ative out­let, I write on mat­ters of spir­i­tual growth, psy­chol­ogy, lead­er­ship, par­ent­ing, sex­u­al­ity, rela­tion­ships and on and on. I typ­i­cally post once or twice a week. Like­wise, on the site you will find dif­fer­ent paint­ings, poetry or short sto­ries that I am work­ing on or com­pleted. I have been mar­ried to my wife Julie for eigh­teen years. We have two sons who have taught us more than we could have ever imag­ined. Unless it is spend­ing time with Julie, I find no bet­ter enjoy­ment than being with my sons on a golf course late in the evening in August.
