2011

I must admit, I don’t think I’ve ever done a New Year’s Resolution. Typically, these resolutions deal with weight or exercise; and to be honest, I am not a big fan of my treadmill so they usually don’t apply to me…

However, this past year I have been reading the blog of Alece and recently, she has discussed this idea of coming up with One Word for your year, picking a word to focus on and to apply to your life for the year.

I really like that. I really like words and to come up with just one has got me thinking. If you want to know more, you can read about it on her blog GritAndGlory.com.

So without further ado, my one word for this year is…undaunted.

Undaunted simply means to be “courageously resolute, especially in the face of danger or difficulty ” or “to not be intimidated or discouraged by difficulty, danger, or disappointment.”

I love the words used here in this definition, because this is where I want to focus my attention and heart this year (e.g., resolute, not intimidated or discouraged, disappointed, etc.). Inevitability, I know I will be facing different challenges this year, and therefore, in preparing for that, I want to be “undaunted” in confronting those obstacles. In particular, in how I face these difficulties,  I want to continue to grow in the fruit of the Spirit (Galatians 5:22-23)  so that I can react appropriately to these unavoidable challenges.

So moving forward into 2011, my word is undaunted: being confident in who God made me to be, but more importantly, trusting the One Word who goes ahead of me in all that I do.
